Smith’s Defiance
Available from: Third Party Supplier
In mid 2005 I met with Mr. Smith in Cape Town to ask his permission to commission an oil on canvas painting of his attack on a rail yard in the Po Valley, Italy during WW11. After discussing the project over lunch in Simons Town he not only agreed to the painting but also graciously agreed to sign all 550 prints ("50 artist proofs" and 500 "limited editions"). I returned to Edmonton, Canada and approached world renowned Aviation Artist Robert Bailey http://www.baileyprints.com/.
Robert did a pencil sketch of the scene described in Mr. Smith's book "The Great Betrayal" which Mr. Smith viewed and gave consent to continue with the original painting.

The Story
July 1944 Captain Ian Smith of 237 (Rhodesia) Squadron, RAF, attacks a rail yard in the Po Valley, Italy. During this attack, Cpt. Smith was shot down by flak but escaped capture until he was found by the Italian partisans, before returning to England. Captain Smith went on to become the Prime Minister of Rhodesia, (now Zimbabwe), in April 1964. On November 11, 1965, he declared Rhodesia’s independence from Britain, the first commonwealth Prime Minister to do so.

Ian Smith-Rhodesian
Available from: Rhodesians Worldwide
Visit with Ian Douglas Smith, the last Prime Minister of Rhodesia in this three segment videographic story. In Ian Smith-Rhodesian you will be face to face with a calm and relaxed Ian Smith one year after the declaration of Independence as he shares his hopes for the future of Rhodesia. In his 1978 address to the nation he is a more worn man as he announces impending majority rule as imposed by the Kissinger plan. In “A New Initiative” Ian Smith, clearly at the end of his tether, lays out the Internal Settlement with the black leaders; Bishop Muzorewa, Ndabanigi Sithole and Senator Chief Chirau. This announcement lead to the short existence of Zimbabwe-Rhodesia.
Ian Smith-Rhodesian is a copyrighted segment that we have been authorised to reproduce as opposed to the other items which are public domain after so many years since their production. Any unauthorised use, such as copying, of Ian Smith-Rhodesian is not allowed unless authorised by the producer of this show and his surviving family members. Cost includes shipping to anywhere in the world. We can make this in DVD or Video format and in PAL or NTSC depending on your location.

Mugabe and the white African
Available from: Third Party Supplier
I m still the Hitler of the times. This Hitler has only one objective; justice for his people, sovereignty for his people. If that is Hitler, right... then let me be a Hitler ten fold. Robert Mugabe
Michael Campbell is one of a handful of white farmers still left in Zimbabwe since President Robert Mugabe began enforcing his controversial land seizure program, an initiative intended to reclaim white-owned land and redistribute it to poor black Zimbabweans. Since 2000, formerly thriving farms that employed thousands, now sit derelict while poverty and hunger are rife amongst the majority of the country s citizens; but 74-year-old Mike refuses to back down.
Set against the backdrop of the tumultuous 2008 presidential election, Mugabe and the White African follows Mike and son-in-law Ben Freeth s harrowing attempt to take Mugabe to an international court for racism and violation of their human rights. It is an unprecedented case, upon which rests not only Mike and his family s future, but also the future of millions of ordinary Zimbabweans who continue to suffer at the hands of one of the world s most infamous tyrants. Much of this film was shot covertly. To have been caught filming would have meant imprisonment.

Fireforce
Available from: Third Party Supplier
In 2006 I returned to South Africa to discuss with Mr. Smith, Lt. Colonel Ron Reid-Daly and Detective Inspector Winston Hart (BSAP) about a project specifically Rhodesian orientated.
It was unanimous that a painting depicting soldiers being dropped into a hot zone under fire from terrorists would be appropriate. It was decided the painting would be called “Fire Force”.

I approached Robert Bailey baileyprints.com again and he was thrilled to take on the challenge of his first “African War” project.
This painting is dedicated to all who served in the defence of our country and to both military personal, and civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice.
